Locum Consulting, in partnership with Colliers Middle East, has been appointed as strategic advisors to a major new waterfront development in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Jeddah is Saudi Arabia’s second largest city, a thriving urban centre on the Red Sea Coast. It is also Saudi Arabia’s most cosmopolitan city and the main gateway for millions of pilgrims travelling to and from Islam’s holiest cities, Mecca and Medina. Locum advises the client, Jeddah Development & Urban Regeneration Co. (JDURC), on a major new waterfront development, The Jeddah Permanent Festival Venue, in the northern part of Jeddah. With a fantastic location on the shores of the Red Sea, the development will become an iconic landmark for the city of Jeddah – and for Saudi Arabia. The preliminary development mix comprises a range of components, including hotel, conference facilities and an aqua dome. The key feature of the development, however, will be a festival venue of significant size and scope, capable of hosting some of the main events for which Jeddah has become known, including the Jeddah Summer Festival. Locum’s Seán Young, Dominique Bourdais and Jonas Eilersen are currently working on the project in collaboration with Colliers Middle East in Riyadh, architects ACT, and JDURC. Seán Young, Locum’s Managing Director, remarks: “We’re tremendously excited to be working on this project in Jeddah. We have great respect for our client’s vision and are certain that this development will contribute significantly to the leisure provision in Jeddah, as well as to the international profile of the city.” Locum is currently working on a number of projects in the Middle East, including developments in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
