Convoys Wharf

Convoys Wharf is a 43-acre site on the River Thames in Deptford, South East London. It is one of the largest remaining development opportunities in the London Docklands, just minutes from Deptford High Street and close to Greenwich. The site was acquired by Hutchison Whampoa Properties Ltd for predominantly residential development, which will be complemented by retail and commercial floorspace. Hutchison Whampoa Properties, best known for its development and management of docks in places like Hong Kong, commissioned Locum to advise on how to transform Convoys Wharf into an attractive place to live and work.

Locum developed a detailed destination brand strategy for the re-use of a listed building, the Olympia, at the heart of the site, as a retail-led mixed-use development offering shopping, food and beverage and entertainment facilities, complemented by space for digital media companies, a destination cinema and an innovative health and sports facility on land adjacent to the Olympia building. Construction of the development is expected to commence in 2008 with completion by 2017.
